2009 Property Taxes
State law dictates the period of time reviewed for property tax valuations. For the 2009 valuations to be mailed May 1st, that valuation period was January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. San Miguel County officials have stated that valuations remained largely unchanged from the last valuation period even though real estate prices may have decreased since the stock market collapsed last October. This has to do with the mandated valuation period that ended June 30, 2008 before the credit market collapse.

Pedestrian Underpass
An underpass for pedestrians and cyclists is under construction between Hwy 145 near the Society Turn. Long considered a dangerous area to cross, the underpass will allow pedestrians and cyclists to pass into Lawson Hill and down to the 25-mile Galloping Goose Trail. Safelty considerations have prevailed at last.
